CCP Games has announced their free expansion for EVE Online 11th, called “Dominion”. As its name suggests, the expansion focuses on winter territories and control the player on them. We are told that the expansion of Dominion focuses on conquering and holding space and will feature a redesign of the control system of the territorial sovereignty of player alliances. We have no other details on the sovereignty redesign yet, but according to CCP that changes have been made with the subscriber information in mind, including the player elected Council of Stellar Management.
CCP has put up an ad for the Dominion on the official game site and they have also launched a new Eve Online: Dominion features page that should be where expansion info will be announced.
Given that CCP Games is anchoring more game EVE Online on the planets of the galaxy New Eden, the next step they take with the Trinity graphics engine is to add more detail on these planets (and moons probably).
Beyond this emphasis on the planets, Dominion will also enable the first iteration of COSMOS, a social network for EVE Online that part of game features with Web capabilities - Character, Corporate, and profiles of the alliance , a new messaging system and contacts.
Finally, for those of you interested in Walking in Stations feature where capsuleers EVE avatars will be given - it will not be part of the expansion of winter. More info to come should be the functionality to Fanfest, but he is best known for his “Walking in Stations” or “gait” codenames. The “Walking in Stations” has been called “Incarnation”.
Perhaps tying with the release of EVE Online forthcoming novel, The Burning Life is the introduction of Pirate Epic Mission Arcs, giving some much needed attention to the game of various factions of pirates.
That’s what we know so far, but more details will emerge as EVE Fanfest 2009 approaching. Keep an eye on the online coverage massively’S EVE for more on the expansion of the Dominion, in the weeks to come.
